PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide powder for flame spray, the powder being capable of easily forming a dense flame spray film with less pores.
SOLUTION : Powder for flame spray according to the invention is the powder for flame spray comprising an oxide of a rare earth element. A grain diameter D50, which is a grain size at a cumulative volume 50% from a small particle size side measured by a laser diffraction scattering particle size distribution measuring method, is 1.0 μm or more and 10.0 μm or less. A specific surface area measured by a BET method is 1.5 m2/g or more and 10 m2/g or less. A pore volume of pores with a pore diameter of 6 μm or less measured by a mercury penetration method is 0.15 cm3/g or more and 0.80 cm3/g or less. A peak of the powder for flame spray is preferably observed in a range of 0.5 μm or more and 5 μm or less in a pore diameter distribution measured by the mercury penetration method.
