PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a wavelength conversion material capable of reducing pulse width of light after wavelength conversion, a light reception system and a distance measuring system. SOLUTION : There is provided a wavelength conversion material (5) containing (a) a rare earth element and (b) a semiconductor or an organic dye capable of energy transfer with excited rare earth element and having a boundary of an area including the (a) and an area including the (b). The wavelength conversion material has a structure where a first layer (1) including the (a) and a second layer (3) including the (b) are laminated alternately.
