The present invention relates to a method for the rare earths-containing phosphors having the following method steps : a) addition of solid ammonium chloride in a 1a 4-mass ratio fold, based on the mass of the rare earths-containing phosphors, to the rare earths-containing shine-openly, b) at a temperature of 200-800 °C chlorinatable metals to metal chlorides the chlorinating over a period of 1 to 5 hours, c) adding an acid solution to a pH value of the metal chlorides to 1 to 4, 5, wherein are suspended solid constituents in a solution, d) separating the solid constituents of the solution, e) adding an acid to the separated solid components up to a pH value smaller 1, wherein solid components are present in a suspension, f) separating the solid components of the suspension, g) adding a precipitating agent to the separated solution and the separated fluid, wherein a rare earth-containing precipitate precipitates, hr) separation of the rare earth-containing precipitate.
