PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an ultrathin electromagnetic driver that can obtain, when a string vibration sustaining device is not in use, the normal sound of a front pickup mounted in the same position as in a conventional electric guitar, and an electric guitar equipped with this driver.
SOLUTION : A string vibration sustaining device 21 is equipped with a rear pickup 6 that converts string vibration into electric signals, an amplifier 22 that amplifies the converted electric signals and an ultrathin electromagnetic driver 23 that converts the amplified electric signals into magnetic signals to excite strings. The ultrathin electromagnetic driver 23 configured of two magnetic pole plates formed of magnetic substance, a rare earth-based magnet arranged between the two magnetic pole plates horizontally relative to the strings and a coil wound around the rare earth-based magnet in a perpendicular direction relative to the strings is formed very thin, measuring 3 millimeters or less in overall thickness, and is arranged in a very narrow gap between the neck end part 24 and the front pickup 4 of an electric guitar 1.
