PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for manufacturing a rare-earth magnet having magnetic characteristics with good productivity, and a method for manufacturing magnet powders.
SOLUTION : A method for manufacturing a rare-earth magnet comprises the steps of : preparing rare-earth-iron-based alloy powders 10 (preparation step); forming hydrogenated powders 20 by subjecting the rare-earth-iron-based alloy powders to hydrogenation treatment (hydrogenation step); forming a hydrogenated powder compact 30 by compression-molding the hydrogenated powders (molding step); forming a dehydrogenated powder compact 40 by subjecting the hydrogenated powder compact to dehydrogenation treatment (dehydrogenation step); and forming a magnet material 50 by subjecting the dehydrogenated powder compact to heat treatment in an atmosphere containing a nitrogen element and a hydrogen element and at a temperature not less than a nitriding temperature of the dehydrogenated powder compact and not more than a nitrogen disproportionation temperature of the dehydrogenated powder compact (nitriding step). Heat treatment in the nitriding step is performed while repeating a step of applying a magnetic field of 3T or higher to the dehydrogenated powder compact for a prescribed time (high magnetic field application step) and a step of holding a magnetic field of 1T or lower for a prescribed time (holding step).
