PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a rubber composition for tires capable of improving fuel consumption, wet grip performance and abrasion resistance in good balance and a pneumatic tire using the same.SOLUTION : A rubber composition for tires comprises hydrated alumina having an average particle diameter in powder of ≥12 μm, a nitrogen adsorption specific surface area of 30-300 m/g and a crystal size of 5-100 nm and a specific dithiophosphate compound represented by formula (RO)(RO)(S)P-(-S-)-P(S)(OR)(OR) (1) and/or a specific dithiophosphate compound represented by formula (RO)(RO)(S)P-(-S-)-Zn-(-S-)-P(S)(OR)(OR) (2) (wherein n is an integer of ≥1; R-Rare each independently straight-chain or branched-chain 1-18C alkyl or 5-12C cycloalkyl).
