PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for extracting/removing rare earth metal ions in a plating solution, in which a rare earth metal component can be extracted completely without exerting a bad influence on a main component of the plating solution when the rare earth metal component before the plating solution is treated with an extractant is compared with that after the plating solution is treated with the extractant. SOLUTION : The method for extracting/removing rare earth metal ions contained in the plating solution as impurities comprises : ejecting an extracting liquid, which is obtained by dissolving a rare earth metal ion extractant in a water-insoluble organic solvent and has the density lower than that of the plating solution, in a particle state through the plating solution to be stored in an extraction tank from the lower part of the extraction tank; and ejecting the plating solution to be treated in the particle state through the extracting liquid to be stored on the plating solution to be stored in the extraction tank from the upper part of the extraction tank; bringing the plating solution ejected in the particle state into contact with the extracting liquid to extract/remove the rare earth metal ion impurities by the extractant.
