PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a hydrogen storage alloy excellent in the cycle life and having high hydrogen storage amount and a method for producing the same, and a hydrogen storage alloy electrode and a secondary battery using the same.
SOLUTION : Provided is a hydrogen storage alloy which is characterized in that two or more crystal phases having different crystal structures are layered in a c-axis direction of the crystal structures, wherein the crystal phase having Ce5Co19 type crystal structure is contained, and the composition is represented by the formula LahR6iR7jMgkR8m (wherein R6 is one or more elements selected from the group consisting of rare earth elements including Y but excluding La, R7 is one or more elements selected from the group consisting of Zr, Ti, Zn, Sn and V, R8 is one or more elements selected from Ni and Co, and one or more elements selected from Mn and Al, and the following relations are satisfied : 0≤j≤0.65, 2≤k≤5.5, 0.70≤h/(h+i)≤0.85, and h+i+j+k+m=100).
