This external material for a lithium cell comprises a laminate obtained by laminating, in the stated order, a substrate layer, a first adhesive layer, a metal foil layer, an anticorrosion treatment layer having a single- or multilayered structure, a second adhesive layer, and a sealant layer. The anticorrosion treatment layer is provided to at least the second adhesive layer side and contains a rare earth element oxide, 1-100 parts by mass of phosphoric acid or a phosphate in relation to 100 parts by mass of the rare earth element oxide, and at least one polymer selected from the group consisting of cationic polymers and anionic polymers. The polymer is included at least in a layer in contact with the second adhesive layer. The second adhesive layer contains a compound that is reactive in relation to the polymer included in the layer in contact with the second adhesive layer.
