PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a rare earth magnet which enables the reduction in high-temperature demagnetizing factor even in the case of largely reducing the amount of using a heavy rare earth element such as Dy or Tb in comparison to a conventional amount, or using no such a heavy rare earth element.
SOLUTION : A magnet composed of a sintered compact comprises : R2T14B crystal grains 1 making main phases; and grain boundary phases 3 between the R2T14B crystal grains. The sintered compact is controlled in its microstructure so that the grain boundary phases 3 include a first grain boundary phase including R, T and M elements at least in the ranges of 20-40 atom% for R, 60-75 atom% for T, and 1-10 atom% for M, and a second grain boundary phase including R, T and M elements at least in the ranges of 50-70 atom% for R, 10-30 atom% for T, and 1-20 atom% for M.
