The invention relates to a method for utilizing rare earth boride- (ceramics, magnets) containing wastes, wherein a.) the waste materials are mixed with a reaction solution composed of water, 1 to 50% by weight of organosulfonic acid and, in a stoichiometric ratio relative to the organosulfonic acid, 1-50% by weight of an oxidizing agent and the material is completely dissolved, and b.) the organosulfonic acid is recovered in the course of the process.
