Provided is a phosphor of superior light-emitting properties. A phosphor composition according to the present invention contains : a nitride phosphor including, in the composition thereof, silicon, nitrogen, cerium, and an element M constituted by at least one element selected from the group consisting of rare earth elements other than cerium; and an oxyfluoride. The content by percentage of oxyfluoride in the phosphor composition is 1.5-10% by mass, inclusive, as measured via X-ray diffraction reference intensity ratio.
