CaSiSiAlN as a base crystal3 M element comprising an inorganic compound having the same crystal structure as the crystal phase. The M element is a solid solution crystalline phase phosphor in which Mn, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, and Yb are added as a light emission center, and a white light emitting diode using the phosphor. The phosphor is an inorganic phosphor having a longer wavelength than light emitted by a conventional SiAlON phosphor activated by a rare earth element, and the white light emitting diode is an inorganic phosphor having a reddish color and a good color rendering property.
