PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an oxide superconducting wire which can prevent propagation of peeling between an oxide superconducting layer and an intermediate layer.SOLUTION : An oxide superconducting wire includes a substrate, an intermediate layer formed on a principal plane of the substrate, and an oxide superconducting layer, and the arithmetic average roughness Ra of a surface of the oxide superconducting layer is 10 nm or more and 50 nm or less. A film thickness of the oxide superconducting layer is preferably 0.5 μm or more and 3 μm or less. In the oxide superconducting wire, the oxide superconducting layer is represented by a composition formula : REBaCuO(where RE represents one or two or more rare earth elements; and x represents oxygen deficiency), and when a molar ratio of Cu is 3, the molar ratios, a and b, of RE and Ba preferably satisfy 0.90≤a≤1.05 and 1.90≤b≤2.00, respectively.
