PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method of recovering rare earth metals, including Dy, from a rare earth magnet by the molten metal extraction method. SOLUTION : A method of recovering rare earth metals includes an extraction step of extracting rare earth metals from a magnet 10 containing rare earth metals into a mixture of molten liquid magnesium and calcium, a separation step of separating the mixture of liquid magnesium and calcium dissolved with the rare earth metals from the magnet with the rare earth metals extracted, a rare earth metal recovery step of recovering the rare earth metals from the mixture of liquid magnesium and calcium by evaporating magnesium and calcium and a magnesium calcium recovery step of recovering magnesium and calcium by condensing or solidifying the evaporated magnesium and calcium.
