PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a recovery method capable of stably recovering a heavy rare earth. SOLUTION : An alkali metal sulfate or a solution including the alkali metal sulfate is added to a rare earth-containing solution containing a heavy rare earth and a light rare earth, thereby double sulfate salt precipitate of the rare earth is generated, so that the heavy rare earth is recovered. The double sulfate salt precipitate of the rare earth as a seed crystal is added to the solution containing the rare earth, and management is performed so that total sum of concentration of the light rare earth in the seed crystal and concentration of the light rare earth in the solution containing the rare earth becomes 28g/L or higher.
