FIELD : optics. SUBSTANCE : invention relates to production of environmentally sustainable light sources and luminophores. The nonlinear optical and photoluminescent material of rare earth samarium scandoborate with a composition Sm0, 78Sc3, 22(BO3)4 of a non-centrosymmetrical monoclinic structure has the spatial group Cc with the lattice parameters a=7.6819 Å, b=9.8088 Å, c=11.9859 Å, β=105.11, provides second-harmonic generation with pumping at the wavelength of 1, 064 nm and emits light from 550 nm to 750 nm. In order to produce said material by the spontaneous crystallisation method, an initial mixture is prepared, consisting of the components Sm0, 78Sc3, 22(BO3)4, taken in the ratio Sm : SC = 0.3 : 0.7, containing samarium oxide Sm2O3, scandium oxide Sc2O3, boric acid H3BO3, lithium carbonate Li2CO3, lithium fluoride LiF, and flux components taken in the ratio 0.59LiBO2 : 0.41LiF. The initial mixture is heated to 1, 000°C to produce a melt solution whereto a platinum loop is introduced. The temperature is reduced at a rate of 20°C / h until the first crystals appear, and spontaneous crystals are grown in the range of 910 to 870°C at a rate of temperature reduction of 2°C /day. EFFECT : invention provides a possibility of expanding the range of materials exhibiting nonlinear optical and photoluminescent properties based on rare earth samarium scandoborates with a stable structure. 2 cl, 3 dwg, 1 ex
