PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method of manufacturing zirconia composite microparticles, capable of manufacturing, at a low cost, a large amount of zirconia composite microparticles excellent in dispersibility and sinterability at a low temperature.SOLUTION : In the method of manufacturing the zirconia composite microparticles, a neutralization precipitate is generated by adding an alkali carbonate solution to a zirconia acidic dispersion liquid in which a dispersed average particle diameter of zirconia microparticles is 20 nm or smaller, and which contains a rare-earth element ion and/or an alkaline-earth metal ion, then the neutralization precipitate is dried, and the dried neutralization precipitate is heat-treated at a temperature of 400°C or higher and 600°C or lower, and is then washed to remove the alkali carbonate components.
