PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a permanent magnet in which both high corrosion resistance and magnetic characteristics are achieved as compared with a conventional R-T-B based sintered magnet.
SOLUTION : Disclosed is an R-T-B based sintered magnet (where, R requires Y (yttrium) and R1 as essential, R1 is at least one kind of rare earth element excluding Y requiring Nd as essential, and T is one kind or more of transition metal elements requiring Fe or Fe and Co). Y is segregated in a triple point by adding the proper quantity of Y to an R-T-B based magnet which becomes a raw material having R1 : Y ratio in R including a grain boundary phase in a range of from 80 : 20 to 35 : 65 in a molar ratio of the calculated grain boundary phase, and corrosion of the grain boundary phase is prevented by its oxidization.
