PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an alloy for an R-T-B-based rare earth sintered magnet capable of providing an R-T-B-based magnet having high coercive force without increasing the content of Dy contained in the R-T-B-based alloy.
SOLUTION : The alloy for an R-T-B-based rare earth sintered magnet is provided which contains : R that is a rare earth element; T that is a transition metal T essentially containing Fe; a metallic element M containing one or more metals selected from among Al, Ga and Cu; B; and inevitable impurities, in which R accounts for 13 to 15 atom%, B accounts for 4.5 to 6.2 atom%, M accounts for 0.1 to 2.4 atom% and T accounts for the balance T, a proportion of Dy in all rare earth elements is 0 to 65 atom%, and the following expression 1 is satisfied and the alloy is produced by a strip cast method. 0.0049Dy+0.34≤B/TRE≤0.0049Dy+0.36 Expression 1, where Dy is a concentration of a Dy element (atom%), B is the concentration of a boron element (atom%) and TRE is the concentration of the total rare earth element (atom%).
