The present invention relates to a sorbitol dehydrogenase expressed from the gene of a new sorbitol dehydrogenase, a method for manufacturing the sorbitol dehydrogenase from a strain transformed from a recombinant expression vector containing the gene, and a method for producing an L-xylulose through a coupling reaction between the sorbitol dehydrogenase and a NADH oxidase generating water. According to the present invention, a coenzyme such as NAD^+ is regenerated through the coupling reaction between the new sorbitol dehydrogenase generating an L-rare sugar and the NADH oxidase generating the water, thereby economically producing the L-rare sugar by saving the expensive coenzyme. In addition, according to the present invention, the coupling reaction is performed by the NADH oxidase generating the water, so a purification process can be simplified because by-products except the water are not generated.COPYRIGHT KIPO 2015
