PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a pump combiner that can improve the reliability of laser equipment by preventing a core from being damaged when high-intensity light having a large peak value is made incident, and an optical amplification device. SOLUTION : Disclosed is the pump combiner having a bridge fiber so that a plurality of optical fibers propagating signal light and pumping light are connected to one end and a rare-earth added fiber is connected to the extended other end side. The pump combiner is characterized in that the extension portion of the bridge fiber satisfies a relation of A>(1/B) by thermally diffusing a dopant added to the core of the fiber, where A is an MFD enlargement ratio of the core which is a multiple of the MFD of the core after thermal diffusion to the MFD of the original core at a predetermined position, and B is a ratio (B=b2/b1) of a fiber external diameter b2 after drawn to the original fiber external diameter b1 of a drawn portion at the predetermined position.
