PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide RIG having both small contents of a Pb content and a Pt content, excellent in crystallinity, and having little environmental effect. SOLUTION : A bismuth-substituted rare earth iron garnet single crystal raised by a liquid phase epitaxial method contains Ca with the amount expressed as ≥0.010 and ≤0.100 per composition formula, Pb with the amount expressed as >0 and ≤0.005 per composition formula, and Pt with the amount expressed as >0 and <0.010 per composition formula.
