The present invention relates to an aluminum nitride sintered body and a manufacturing method thereof, wherein the aluminum nitride sintered body is obtained by sintering a sintered material including : a transition metal oxide; a lithium source which can be converted to lithium oxide by sintering; and an alkaline earth metal oxide or rare earth metal oxide and aluminum nitride (AlN). The aluminum nitride (AlN) obtained by the present invention can be sintered at low temperatures, thereby providing improved mechanical characteristics.
