PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a clutch mechanism which can reduce use amounts of a neodymium magnet material and a heavy rare earth element material while suppressing the generation of irreversible demagnetization. SOLUTION : The clutch mechanism performs the switching of the connection and disconnection of a drive-side rotating body 30 and a driven-side rotating body 40 by generating magnetic flux by an electromagnetic coil 54 so that the magnetic flux in the same direction or in the reverse direction with respect to the flow direction of the magnetic flux by a permanent magnet 51 is imparted to a magnetic circuit which is formed by the permanent magnet 51. The permanent magnet 51 is a neodymium magnet containing heavy rare-earth elements, and in the permanent magnet 51, a region in which the irreversible demagnetization is liable to be generated when the electronic coil 54 imparts the magnetic flux in the reverse direction to the permanent magnet, for example, a circumferential region of two corners at the outside of a ring includes a large amount of the heavy rare earth elements compared with the other region.
