PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a production method for rare earth-iron-nitrogen system alloy powder that is inexpensive and has excellent magnetic properties by producing a mother alloy by a reduction diffusion method by using a mixture of rare earth oxide powder and iron powder as a starting material, and subsequently nitriding the mother alloy.SOLUTION : A rare earth-iron-nitrogen system alloy powder is obtained in such a manner that a mixture of rare earth oxide powder and iron powder is prepared as a starting material, a mother alloy is produced by reduction diffusion treatment in inert gas by adding a predetermined amount of metal calcium in the mixture, mixed gas of hydrogen gas and inert gas or mixed gas of the hydrogen gas and nitrogen gas is supplied, a temperature is raised so as to reach a nitriding temperature of 400°C or higher and 500°C or lower while supplying the mixed gas of which hydrogen partial pressure of the mixed gas is 0.10 or higher and 0.80 or lower, subsequently nitriding the mother alloy by ammonia gas, and obtain the rare earth-iron-nitrogen system alloy powder.SELECTED DRAWING : None
