A waterborne environment-friendly insulating coating, comprising : aluminum dihydrogen phosphate, silica sol gel, magnesium oxide, phosphoric acid, a rare-earth salt mixed solvent, an anti-settling agent, a thickening agent, and a coupling agent. By using water as a solvent of the coating, lots of resources are saved, and no VOC harmful substances such as benzene, xylene, ethane, and formaldehyde are contained; the coating is formed by direct stirring without any grinding process, thus the preparation method is simple and reliable, the hidden danger of fire during construction and storage is eliminated, the pollution to the atmosphere is reduced, and construction can also be carried out normally in a closed environment. The coating has strong adhesion on the surface of a steel plate, strong weather resistance, and easy operability. Coating tools can be directly cleaned with water, thereby greatly reducing the harm to construction personnel.
