PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for producing a dispersion of rare earth fluoride fine particles which ensures mass productivity and yield in production and is suitable for a process in which coating is performed to a rare earth magnet for the purpose of increasing coercive force.SOLUTION : In a method for producing a dispersion of rare earth or alkaline earth metal fluoride fine particles, fluoride fine particles are synthesized by dropping a hydrofluoric acid aqueous solution into an aqueous solution with a rare earth or alkaline earth metal of a water-soluble salt dissolved therein, recovered by pressure filtration, and then dispersed again in an organic solvent.
