PURPOSE : A β-glycosidase protein is provided to efficiently bioconvert PPD type ginsenoside into rare active ginsenoside that is easy to be absorbed in the body. CONSTITUTION : A β-glycosidase protein is formed of an amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO : 1. Gene decodes the protein. A recombinant vector includes the gene. A transformant is transformed by the recombinant vector. A primer set for detecting β-glycosidase is formed of primers having nucleic acid sequences of SEQ ID NO : 3 and SEQ ID NO : 4. A manufacturing method of β-glycosidase comprises the steps of : (a) cultivating the transformant; producing β-glycosidase from the cultivated transformant; and collecting the produced β-glycosidase. A transforming method of PPD type ginsenoside into rare active ginsenoside includes contacting the β-glycosidase protein, the transformant, or a culture of the transformant with the PPD type ginsenoside. A composition for converting the PPD type or PPT type ginsenoside into the rare active ginsenoside includes the β-glycosidase protein, the transformant, or a culture of the transformant.
