PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an alkali storage battery which has an increased charging efficiency, and is superior in generation output characteristic and continuous charge characteristic with a large current.
SOLUTION : The alkali storage battery comprises : a hydrogen-absorbable alloy negative electrode; and a nickel positive electrode. The hydrogen-absorbable alloy used for the hydrogen-absorbable alloy negative electrode is expressed by Ln1-xMgxNiy-a-bAlaMb. In the formula, Ln is at least one element selected from a group consisting of rare earth elements including Y, Zr and Ti, M is at least one element selected from a group consisting of V, Nb, Ta, Cr, Mo, Fe, Ga, Zn, Sn, In, Cu, Si, P and B, and x, a, b and y meet the conditions of : 0.05≤x≤0.30; 0.05≤a≤0.30; 0≤b≤0.50; and 2.8≤y≤3.9. In the nickel positive electrode, tungsten is solutionized in an active material. The tungsten is deposited on a surface of the positive-electrode active material.
