PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a rare earth permanent magnet whose coercive field strength is improved by properly distributing Nd rich phases in an Nd-Fe-B rare earth permanent magnet and a method for manufacturing a rare earth permanent magnet. SOLUTION : The Nd-Fe-B rare earth permanent magnet includes a main phase 2 and an Nd rich phase 3. In the case that an Nd rich phase 3 having the maximum volume among integrally coupled Nd rich phases 3 contained in a permanent magnet 1 is defined as a first coupling phase, an Nd rich phase 3 having the second largest volume is defined as a second coupling phase, and an Nd rich phase 3 having the third largest volume is defined as a third coupling phase, the total volume of the first coupling phase, the second coupling phase and the third coupling phase is configured to be 70% or more of the whole volumes of Nd rich phases contained in the permanent magnet 1.
