PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To reduce the cost of a fluorescent lamp having a phosphor layer consisting of a rare earth phosphor, by reducing the thickness of the phosphor layer while maintaining the amount of luminescence.SOLUTION : The fluorescent lamp includes a translucent discharge container consisting of a glass bulb, a reflective layer formed on the inner wall surface of the translucent discharge container, composed of inorganic particles having an average particle size of 0.1-0.6 μm and having a thickness of 0.6-2 mg/cm, a phosphor layer principally composed of 3-wavelength light-emitting phosphor particles and formed on the reflective layer, a pair of electrodes arranged in the translucent discharge container so as to generate discharge, and a discharge medium enclosed in the translucent discharge container.
