PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an exhaust gas purifying catalyst and a method for producing the exhaust gas purifying catalyst that can maintain higher purifying performance than conventional ones over a long period of time. SOLUTION : The exhaust gas purifying catalyst includes a composite oxide containing nobel metal elements and having a cleavage surface. In this exhaust gas purifying catalyst, the composite oxide is preferably a composite oxide of a rare earth element and palladium. It is more preferable that the composite oxide is La4PdO7, that palladium is arrayed on the cleavage surface and that La4PdO7 is supported by Al2O3. COPYRIGHT : (C)2013, JPO&INPIT
