PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a dielectric ceramic for use in a dielectric ceramic layer which can give superior bias characteristics, even if a thin layer is used as a dielectric ceramic layer in a multilayer ceramic capacitor. SOLUTION : The dielectric ceramic comprises ABO3(wherein, A is Ba and the like; B is Ti and the like) as a main component and a rare earth element as an auxiliary component and has crystal grains 21 and a crystal grain boundary. 90% or more of the crystal grains 21 have a surface part 22 having a molar ratio of the rare earth element to Ti of 0.03-0.10 and an inner part 23 having a molar ratio of the rare earth element to Ti of 0.01 or less. The ratio of the average thickness of the surface part 22 to the diameter of the crystal particles 21 is 0.01-0.10. COPYRIGHT : (C)2007, JPO&INPIT
