PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a superconducting wire which can increase limit strain and can improve conduction characteristics by enhancing mechanical strength.
SOLUTION : A superconducting wire 11 has a structure having a superconductive layer 16 of a rare earth oxide superconductor formed on a substrate 12 through an intermediate layer 15 formed of a first intermediate layer 13 and a second intermediate layer 14. The superconductive layer 16 is film-formed so that a (001) plane 20 of a crystal of the rare earth oxide superconductor is parallel to the plane of the substrate 12 of the superconducting wire 11 and that an azimuth of a (110) plane 17 is parallel to a longitudinal direction x of the superconducting wire 11. The first intermediate layer 13 is formed so that the (001) plane 20 of the crystal is parallel to the plane of the substrate 12 of the superconducting wire 11 and that the azimuth of the (110) plane 17 extends in parallel to the longitudinal direction x of the superconducting wire 11, and the second intermediate layer 14 is formed so that the (001) plane 20 of the crystal is parallel to the plane of the substrate 12 of the superconducting wire 11 and that the azimuth of the (100) plane extends in parallel to the longitudinal direction x of the superconducting wire 11.
