A multiband aliased inner cavity gas sensing system and sensing method. The system includes a laser resonance inner cavity portion, a gas sensing portion and a detection demodulation portion. The laser resonance inner cavity portion includes a first optical splitter (1), two paths of gain passages formed by a pumping light source (2, 3), an optical wavelength division multiplexer (4, 5), a doped fibre (6, 7), an optical isolator (8, 9) and a tunable optical attenuator (10, 11), an optical combiner (12), an optical circulator (13) and an F-P tunable optical filter (16). The gas sensing portion includes a gas chamber (14) and an optical reflector (15). The detection demodulation portion includes an optical coupler (17), a second optical splitter (18), two optical detectors (19, 20), a data collection module (21) and a computer (22). By way of aliasing active fibres doped with different rare earth ions into the same system, the system can cover the laser wavebands of many kinds of doped ions simultaneously, which can expand the wavelength scanning range of the system to a great extent, thus enabling the system to have the capability of detecting many more kinds of gases simultaneously. In addition, by way of inserting new gain passages into the system, the wavelength scanning range of the system can be expanded further.
