PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a thermistor element capable of correctly measuring temperature in a high-temperature region over 600°C in a reductive atmosphere, and suppressed in characteristic variation; and a temperature sensor using the thermistor element. ŽSOLUTION : This thermistor element is provided with a thermistor part formed of a thermistor composition, and a covering layer covering a surface thereof, and is characterized in that the thermistor part contains a conductive perovskite phase of a perovskite type crystalline structure; and the covering layer is crystallized glass containing 10-25 mass% of SiO2, 15-30 mass% of an oxide of alkaline-earth metal, 15-30 mass% of TiO2, 10-25 mass% of ZnO, and 15-30 mass% of RE2O3, where RE is a rare-earth metal, and not containing B2O3.
