PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To form a high emission current density thermion emitter by using a rare earths hexaboride nanowire as an electron emitting unit. SOLUTION : There are two kinds of rare earths hexaboride nanowire thermion emitters. The first type is a surface emitter, and can be formed by depositing the thin-film rare earths hexaboride nanowire on a surface of a material to function as a heater.
