The present invention relates to a liquid crystal display device. A cold cathode fluorescent lamp (101) includes a glass tube (102) having a phosphor layer (102) disposed at both ends of the glass tube (103), and a pair of electrodes (100) disposed at both end portions of the glass tube (A).). 1 mass % of at least 0.001 element selected from Ti, Hf, Zr, V, W, Sr, Si, Al, Y, Mg, In, and rare earth elements in a total amount of about 5.0 mass % or more and including Ni and impurities in the total internal wall of the cathode fluorescent lamp is formed on an inner wall surface of the glass tube for a cold cathode fluorescent lamp according to the present invention as an electrode material for a cold cathode fluorescent lamp (CCFLs). Th, Be, Ba, B, Th, Be, In, Al, Y, Mg, In, and rare earth elements. By using an electrode made of Ni alloy having the above composition, it is possible to improve the discharge property, oxidation resistance, sputtering resistance, and reactivity with the mercury and realize a high brightness and a long life.
