PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a scintillator for neutron detection, wherein a small-sized and lightweight silicon photodiode has not only an emission wavelength that can be received by a photomultiplier tube but also a highly sensitive emission wavelength, the effective atomic number is relatively small, and light emission does not easily occur by gamma rays.
SOLUTION : The scintillator for neutron detection includes a colquiriite-type fluoride monocrystal containing at least two elements selected from rare earth elements and at least 0.80 atom/nm3 of 6Li. The neutron beam detector is provided with the scintillator for neutron detection and a photodetector.
