PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a catalyst capable of manufacturing α, β-unsaturated carboxylic acid from olefin or α, β-unsaturated aldehyde at a high productivity, a manufacturing method of the catalyst and a manufacturing method of α, β-unsaturated carboxylic acid using the catalyst. SOLUTION : A palladium containing catalyst contains 0.01-0.30 moles of an alkali metal element or an alkali earth metal element to 1.0 mole of palladium element is used to manufacture α, β-unsaturated carboxylic acid from olefin or α, β-unsaturated aldehyde.
