PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a magnetic material for a rare-earth magnet in which the magnetic characteristics of the rare-earth magnet are enhanced without increasing the usage of rare elements.
SOLUTION : In the magnetic material for a rare-earth magnet, a peak corresponding to Sm-Fe bond is given to the position of 0.295-0.325 nm on a radial distribution function, as a result of EXAFS measurement and analysis, by making an F element intrude substantially to the middle of the longer bond distance out of an Fe-Fe bond or an Fe-Z bond of a binary system Re-Fe or a ternary system R-Fe-Z. Consequently, magnetic moment is increased, or magnetic anisotropy is modified.
