PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a phosphor excited by an exciting light source in the range of from ultraviolet to visual light, and having an emitting color within the range of from blue-green color to green color converted in the wavelength. ŽSOLUTION : The oxynitride phosphor is obtained by using at least one kind or more rare earth elements including Eu as essential component as an activator R, and contains at least one or more kinds selected from Ca, Sr, Ba which is an essential component, and Zn, and at least one kind of group IV elements selected from the group consisting of C, Si which is an essential component, Ge, Sn, Ti, Zr and Hf. The content of the Ba is regulated so that the molar ratio of the group II element to the Ba may be (1 : 0.0.76) to (1 : 1), and the molar ratio of R to the group II element is regulated so as to be (1 : 0.005) to (1 : 0.15).
