PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a technique capable of reducing the production cost of foam glass. ŽSOLUTION : As shown in Fig.(a), an earth and sand glass material (tertiary earth and sand glass) 20 contains particles 22 of resins among glass particles 21, wherein grains of earth and sand are not shown. This earth and sand glass material 20 is temporarily fired at about 600°C to obtain a temporarily fired body 25 in which particles 26 of carbon replace the particles 22 of resins as shown in (c). This temporarily fired body 25 is finely crushed to obtain crushed powder 30 in which fine particles 31 of carbon replace the particles 26 of carbon as shown in (d). This crushed powder 30 is subjected to concluding firing at about 800°C to obtain foam glass 34 comprising glass 32 and bubbles 33. Since the particles of resins function as a blowing agent, the foam glass can be produced from only ASR without adding a blowing agent. Since it is not necessary to get a blowing agent, the production cost of the foam glass can be reduced. ŽCOPYRIGHT : (C)2010, JPO&INPIT Ž
