PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for producing a rare earth magnet, capable of increasing magnetic flux density and simultaneously increasing coercivity by actively utilizing hot plastic working for the crystalline orientation of a rare earth magnet.
SOLUTION : In the method for producing a rare earth magnet, powder of a rare earth magnet material having a composition of R-T-B (R : a rare earth element, and T : Fe or Fe+Co) is added with a fluoride of metal or an alloy to be mixed, the obtained mixed powder is subjected to a formation process to form a bulk body, and then hot plastic working is performed. A content of R is adjusted to 28-33% by mass, and the hot plastic working is performed at 550-800°C.
