PURPOSE : A composition of compressed culture soil which can be expanded for use when supplying water thereto and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to have increased ventilation, drainage property, water holding property, fertility, light weight before wetting, and environmental friendliness, and thus to facilitate the growth of plants with the reduced use of a chemical fertilizer, to reduce the chance of being damaged during distribution owing to increased hardness, and to make the disposal after use convenient. CONSTITUTION : The composition of compressed culture soil is produced by : (1) preparing an inoculum suitable for plant cultivation by mixing spores of vesicular arbuscular mycorrhizae separated from the earth with vermiculite where corns have been grown; (2) mixing cocopeat, peatmoss and the resulted mixture of vesicular arbuscular mycorrhizae and vermiculite so as to obtain the moisture content of 20-30%%; (3) mixing chitosan, a wetting agent and a water-soluble fertilizer with zeolite, adding the resulted mixture to the mixture obtained from the step (2), and mixing them well; and (4) compressing the mixed soil obtained from the step (3) to have a certain thickness such as 6cm with a compressor and drying the compressed soil to the moisture content of 10%% or less. © KIPO 2006
