PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for producing a phosphor, by which Eu being an activator in the phosphor is efficiently reduced from Eu3+ to Eu2+ even when the firing temperature is low.SOLUTION : The method for producing a yellow phosphor includes : a step wherein the mixture of a metal halide and an Eu-containing compound is fired, thereby producing a solid solution; and a step wherein a mixture obtained by mixing the solid solution and a metal compound, is fired. As the metal halide compound, at least one kind selected from alkali metal halide, alkaline earth metal halide and rare-earth halide is preferably used. Further, as the metal compound, a compound, selected from (i) silicon compounds and/or Ge compounds, and (ii) alkali metal compounds and alkaline earth metal compounds, and not containing the metal added as the metal halide compound, is preferably used.COPYRIGHT : (C)2012, JPO&INPIT
