PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an external electrode rare-gas fluorescent lamp, having a structure capable of restraining growth of silver ion migration generated on an exposed power supply section, in the external electrode rare-gas fluorescent lamp where conductive silver paste is printed on an electrode. ŽSOLUTION : In the external electrode rare-gas fluorescent lamp in which the designated amount of rare gas is filled in a glass bulb, where a fluorescent material is applied on an internal surface, and a pair of electrodes extending in the bulb-axis direction on the external surface of the glass bulb and made by sintering the conductive silver paste are arranged, the pair of electrodes are coated by a coated layer, made of a material with a melting point lower than sintering temperature of the conductive silver paste that excludes a power supply section at each end of the pair of electrodes, and at least one belt-like section, made of a material with a melting point lower than the sintering temperature of the conductive silver paste, is formed on the external surface of the glass bulb between the power supply sections of the respective electrodes.
