PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To reduce a purification cost by downsizing a purification apparatus and reducing a filling amount of an expensive catalyst, in purifying a raw material gas composed of a gaseous nitrogen or a rare gas by removing hydrocarbons, hydrogen, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, oxygen and water in the raw material gas therefrom.
SOLUTION : A method of purifying gas, which includes : a step to produce carbon dioxide and water by bringing the raw material gas into contact with the catalyst; a step to remove water from the raw material gas having been brought into contact with the catalyst by bringing it into contact with the moisture adsorption agent; a step to remove oxygen in the reaction residue from the raw material gas having been subjected to water removal by bringing it into contact with a nickel catalyst; and a step to remove carbon dioxide from the raw material gas having been subjected to oxygen removal by bringing it into contact with alumina containing 0.1-10 wt.% of sodium, is adopted.
