FERRITIC STAINLESS STEEL HAVING EXCELLENT OXIDATION RESISTANCE AND SECONDARY WORKABILITY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a ferritic stainless steel which has excellent oxidation resistance and secondary workability, and is suitable to applications requiring oxidation resistance and high forming workability such as a sensor element cover installed in automobile exhaust gas passages. SOLUTION : The ferritic stainless steel has a composition containing, by mass, ≤0.03% C, ≤3% Si, ≤1.0% Mn, ≤0.04% P, ≤0.01% S, ≤0.5% Ni, 11 to 21% Cr, ≤6% Al, 0.01 to 0.5% Cu, 0.01 to 0.5% Mo, ≤0.03% N, ≤0.1% Nb, 0.005 to 0.50% Ti, 0.01 to 0.50% V, 0.001 to 0.1% Sn, ≤0.00005% H, ≤0.002% O and ≤0.01% Pb, and, if required, one or more kinds selected from among 0.001 to 0.1% Y, 0.001 to 0.1% REM (rare earth elements) and 0.001 to 0.01% Ca, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities, and is suitable as applications to a sensor, in particular, a sensor element cover material used at a high temperature of ≥500°C.
